Creatively Curved - An Artist Workshop for Women with Scoliosis
When: June 29th, 2025
Time: 1:30pm-4:30pm
Where: Method Collective, NYC
Your Hosts: Erin Lazzaro and Meredith Montana
Creatively Curved is a workshop designed for humans with scoliosis to reconnect with their inner artist through guided movement, breath work, and open discussion. Together, we'll explore how creative expression can flourish not in spite of our curves, but because of them.
This immersive workshop invites participants to explore their creativity and connection within the scoliosis (scoli) community. We begin by sharing personal introductions and reflecting on how we relate to creativity in our lives and bodies. Through open dialogue and group discussion, we’ll dive into themes of identity, artistic purpose, and the evolving nature of creative expression.
The core of the workshop is a Stress Cycle + Movement session led by Erin. You’ll learn what the stress cycle is, why completing it matters, and how movement can be a gentle, empowering tool for emotional regulation. This workshop emphasizes that movement doesn’t have to follow traditional rules—it can be simple, intuitive, and accessible to all bodies. Techniques include shaking, finger tapping, yoga-inspired movement, and breathwork, with a focus on ease and self-connection.
We close with integration and meditation, revisiting key insights and identifying small, practical ways to bring them into daily life. A guided body scan meditation helps participants reconnect with themselves and notice the impact of spending time in intentional creativity and care.
