The Artist Retreat - A Half Day Escape in NYC
Location: SkyTing NYC
Date: Aug 1st
Time: 12:00pm-4:00pm
Hosts: Erin Lazzaro + Kirsten Smits
Price: $65 Early Bird Price till July 1st - $95 After!
This half day retreat is a space for artists and creatives of all kinds to step away from the pace of production and spend time in reflection, conversation, community, and rest. The focus is on the experience of being an artist—what it means, how it feels, and how it changes over time. Through open dialogue, group discussions, and quiet moments, participants explore ideas around creativity, identity, fulfillment, and artistic purpose.
There is also space to reconnect with the body. Movement is integrated throughout the workshop—not as exercise or choreography, but as a tool for processing feeling, releasing tension, and accessing deeper awareness. Participants explore ways to complete the stress cycle through breath, gentle physical practices, and somatic connection, helping the body and nervous system catch up with the emotional demands of creative life.
The workshop brings together people from a range of creative backgrounds: professional performers, emerging voices, those in transition, and people who don’t always feel comfortable calling themselves “artists” but are deeply connected to creative expression. Topics often include the difference between art and creativity, the emotional realities of making work, burnout, inspiration, and the role of art in everyday life. Rather than focusing on doing or making, this retreat holds space for simply being—both as artists and as people.
